How to use USB sticks in the SunRay Terminals
To use your USB stick in the SunRay terminals, do the following:
- Insert your USB stick
- Start "USB stick Mount" from the menu, located under "Desktop Environment"
- Press mount
If all goes well, "USB stick mount" will tell you that the mount was successful (indicated by a green color on the mount button), and the directory where the stick has been mounted. If the button has turned red, something didn't work out as it should :)
On successful mounting, the script will open a rox window, which contains the content of your usbstick. Should you wish to access the data from the command line, remember to run a terminal on "This host" (found in the menu under terminals), which is the only xterm where you will be able to access the data. You CANNOT access the data from a default xterm.
If your stick does not mount, it is possible that you were too fast pressing Mount after insertion of the stick (a few seconds is needed to configure the stick correctly). Alternatively your stick and/or its filesystem might not be supported. In that case, run "USBtools" from the commandline, and try to mount your usb stick manually (running USBtools without arguments will show you the options the tool provides). Send us a mail with the error output, and we'll see, if it is something we can fix. :-)
When you're finished accessing the data on your USB stick, remember to press the "Unmount" button, before removing the stick. This is to prevent data loss and/or file system corruption, due to a cache which the USB stick hasn't written yet.
Please note that the USB needs to be DOS compatible (formatted as FAT).
