Welcome to DTU!

This page contains links to software for use on your personal computer, including software that can connect your computer with the DTU servers.

Some of the software is supported by DTU, which means that you can get help installing and using the software. The rest is extra software, which you may need during your studies at DTU, but we cannot guarantee that support will be available.

Recommended reading

• The DTU Welcome Booklet contains useful information for new students (Danish).
• The booklet The Databar System at DTU describes many details about the DTU databars and provides a good introduction on how to get started using them.

Supported software

• ThinLinc is used for getting a graphical login on the G-databar.

Extra software

• Antivirus software should be used to protect your computer against viruses.
• LaTeX is one of the best typesetting systems.
• ShareLaTeX license is offered to DTU students.
• Scilab is a free alternative to MATLAB.
• GNU Octave is also a free alternative to MATLAB.
• Secure FTP clients, which can be used to send data between DTU and your computer.
• SSH can be used to get a command line on the G-Bar.
• Mozilla Firefox is a web browser.
• Mozilla Thunderbird is a mail application.
